Robinson

Toni Bonita Robinson, AKA “Mama Toni,” was born and raised in
Birmingham, AL., a product of the Birmingham Public School system and Miles College. She is the second of six children, and her love for reading began when her grandmother took her to the bookmobile every Wednesday. Her first memory of a book club was discussing books with her grandmother and aunt, who were both avid readers.
Her brother calls her the “ing” girl because everything she enjoys ends in “ing,” such as reading, baking, sewing, and singing.
Toni is a retired educator who enjoys reading, attending literary events, and watching high school, college, and professional football.
In October 2020, during COVID, when there were no events to attend, she started a daily Facebook live entitled “Mama Toni’s Book Nook and Reviews.” She chose a book from her 3,000-plus books, gave the title, and read a snippet, which she hoped would entice you to pick up the book and read it.
She is currently the President of the Prominent Women of Color Book Club (PWOC) and a member of several online book clubs.

Kann

Diane Kann is a prolific eco-science-fantasy and children’s author whose work explores the vital intersection of humanity, technology, and the natural world. With an expansive library of over 60 published titles, she has built a versatile career as a storyteller engaging readers across generations—from early childhood through young adult and adult speculative fiction.
Diane’s speculative fiction is defined by hope-forward storytelling, blending high-stakes adventure with deep environmental ethics. Writing across multiple imprints to reach diverse audiences, her eco-science-fantasy series invite readers into richly imagined worlds where ecosystems and emerging technologies are central forces rather than backdrops. With two major series completed and a third seven-book saga currently in production, her novels challenge readers to choose stewardship over exploitation. Themes of conservation, resilience, and interconnectedness reflect her belief that speculative fiction can be a powerful catalyst for empathy and meaningful change.
Beyond fiction, Diane is a dedicated creator of children’s literature focused on STEM concepts, environmental awareness, and the unique ecosystems of Florida. Her passion for educational storytelling is rooted in her experience as a long-time homeschooling parent, which shaped her understanding of how to foster curiosity and a love of reading in young learners. Based in Central Florida, she is actively expanding her community outreach through educator collaborations and future school programs, supporting both homeschool and traditional classroom communities.
As an author, Diane seeks to bridge complex global challenges with accessible, engaging narratives. Through her participation in the F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival, she looks forward to contributing to the vibrant exchange of ideas that defines Florida’s diverse literary landscape.
Brown

Dr. Kevin W. Brown is a nationally recognized social scientist, educator, and public intellectual whose work examines the intersection of gender, power, trauma, poverty, and social inequality in modern America. He is the author of the groundbreaking book Shadows of Power: One Gender Rose. One Lost its Way. A Zero-Sum Reckoning for Us All, a sweeping historical and sociological analysis of how gender systems evolved over four centuries—and how their distortions have produced crisis for both women and men in the 21st century.
An adjunct professor of sociology at Oakton College in the Chicago area, Dr. Brown has spent more than three decades working in education, youth development, and community systems. His scholarship and public lectures draw from sociology, psychology, political economy, and trauma science, particularly Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress, to explain how boys and men are increasingly disconnected from school, work, and family life—while women face rising burdens of economic and emotional labor.
Dr. Brown is a frequent keynote speaker at national conferences, including the National Student Safety Conference in New York, San Diego, and Las Vegas, where he trains educators, school leaders, and youth advocates on trauma-informed practice, equity, and systemic reform. His work is known for bridging academic rigor with moral clarity, challenging both political extremes and inviting honest dialogue about gender, race, and power in America.
In Shadows of Power, Dr. Brown argues that modern gender conflict is not a war between men and women, but the result of a system that elevated one gender while quietly abandoning the other—creating a zero-sum dynamic that now threatens families, democracy, and social stability. The book has been praised for its historical depth, compassion for both sexes, and its refusal to reduce complex social problems to ideological slogans.
Dr. Brown lives in Illinois and continues to write, teach, and speak nationally on the future of masculinity, education, and social justice.
